High and Intensive Care, or HIC, is a model designed for acute admission departments catering to clients experiencing severe psychiatric crises who require a secure inpatient setting.
HIC responds to the societal need to provide compassionate and dignified support to individuals in significant psychiatric distress, ensuring an environment where safety and protection are harmoniously combined with respectful care and treatment. This model addresses the demand for quality improvement by offering a clear framework for clinical care.
A primary focus is on reducing the use of coercive measures, prioritising the restoration of client autonomy.
